L’album Madvillainy a plus de 10 ans et peu de rides. Disque concept qui réunit le rappeur MF Doom, prolixe et fou, et le producteur Madlib, prolifique et enfumé, c’est devenu au fil du temps un classique. Les deux protagonistes ayant une cohorte de fans dévoués, c’est tout naturellement que les samples de cet album ont été traqués, mis à jour et compilés. C’est Boom Bap Beatnik qui s’est chargé de la lourde tâche du mix, et c’est fait avec dextérité. On remarquera que Madlib a pioché dans tous les styles, dans tous les genres, et on ne peut que s’incliner face à tant d’ingéniosité, et sa capacité à ressusciter quelques perles qui pourrissaient au fond des oubliettes de l’histoire.
